One Nation Under God

My  husband and I went to the Republican watch party here in Colorado Springs last night.  I realized as I was talking to the Lord that Christians, both Republican and Democrat were doing just what I was doing, praying for   “our” candidate to win.  I asked the Lord  what He wanted and He said ” I want my Nation back”.

Our job as believers is to make sure that our agenda is really God’s agenda. We need to stay in agreement with Him at every turn.  We may not understand why things happen but we do need to understand how very much the Lord loves us and is moving us toward His plan for our future.

Obviously my candidate did not win, but that did not change what the Lord had said to me before the polls even closed.

I am sharing with you some of what I have gleaned from what He said.

The Lord is Republican and Democrat. He is both and He is neither.

There is a plan and purpose that the Lord has created the United States to fulfill.  If we are to possess our birthright as a nation then we must give our nation back to God. The time of compromising our values and ideals is quickly coming to an end. We must be careful to not fall into spiritual entitlement or worse still spiritual lethargy.

Republicans and Democrats are both needed and must find the common ground in the Lord to be able to move our nation forward.

Remember, we are one nation under GOD…..

Recognize the Opportunity

Every action or occurance in our lives gives us  an opportunity for a Godly choice and response.  The Lord showed this to me the other day and I am now looking back through some of my experiences and noticing what I chose to do with them.  I am not going to dwell on what I did wrong in the past…my attitudes, my actions, my reactions that were not like God at all are going to be used as a teaching tool for me so that in the future I will recognize my opportunity to excell and not be defeated. I am determined to win the battle and to make use of every opportunity to become more like Christ.

Staying victorious no matter what is my prayer for all of us. We are growing and we will move forward in what the Lord has called each one of us to do. We will be changed into His image and we will defeat our foe.

Blessings,

Teri

Who Has The Advantage, Really?

Does it ever seem to you that the enemy has all the advantage? That we are just

sitting ducks for his purposes and his folly? If you answered yes to either

question then let me encourage you… Hebrews 4:16 says that we can approach the throne of grace with confidence.

We are able to receive mercy and find grace in our time of need.

The enemy is outnumbered 2 to 1. We are the ones on the winning team and  we are the ones that have the advantage.

Remember that every circumstance that we experience is our opportunity for promotion in the Lord.

Let’s take advantage of our advantage and move forward with assurance and victory.

Blessings,

Teri

and now for the rest of the story

I not only made it through the week but with the Lord’s persistant prodding I was

able to make the connection between my physical and spiritual health.  My not

ingesting enough protein in my body caused me to be hungry and not satisfied.

The same was happening in my spirit.  I was not getting enough spiritual meat to

sustain me and I was running on empty.

Translated that means that I was needing to go much deeper and higher with the

Lord than I have been.  My daily readings, prayers, and fellowship were just not

enough.  I was hungry for more.  My spirit was starving  just like my body was

starving.

Even as God is intentional, we who are created in His image must also be

intentional.  Intentional about our relationship and our growth in Him.

Just getting by is no longer going to work  for me because I want and need more.

What seems to be working  for me is to be in His presence and just be silent with

Him.  That fills my spirit  like a good steak fills my body.

Getting Our Attention

I realize that God will get our attention in many different ways.  There are three main areas that He has pointed out to me. He may get your attention in another way but I am going to share the  ones that He uses in my life.  Fortunately they don’t always come at the same time for which I am thankful.  These three areas are finance, health and relationships.

I have been a health journey for several years now and those that know me personally can attest to the fact that I will share what ever the Lord reveals to me about my own health.  I have found that if it is happening to me then it is probably happening to someone else.

No matter what I was eating it was not the right or best food for me.  The food was not the problem.  The amount was not the problem, except in the case of protein I was not eating enough.  The problem was that  I was literally going into starvation mode because my body was not getting all of what it needed.  I began eating more protein, more vegetables etc.  That has helped me not only feel better but to be in health.

My health journey is the one that has my  focus right now.  I am watching God and seeing how faithful He is no matter what health issue I face.  I just recently returned from doing ministry in Oklahoma and while I was there I noticed that my ankles were swollen  about the size of a large softball.  Wow.  Was that fun or what? I am from Colorado so the heat and the altitude or the lack of altitude may have played a big part of what was going on, but I didn’t just stop with swelling.  I ended up with sun poisoning, and found out that my thyroid had been extremely compromised. I was surrounded by loving friends that helped me and prayed for me.  I made it through the week.

No Chance

It was very early in the morning when the Lord woke me up by speaking loudly in my ear, “I do not do chance.” After I got up and was fully awake, He clarified to me what he meant.

When we are in turmoil and pain, that is the time when we have a tendency to believe that God has made a mistake.  We believe that somewhere, somehow, if God had known ahead of time what would befall me, He surely would have stopped it from happening.  We think He just forgot to come to my rescue and it’s an oversight on His part.  Or we think, “I am not protected and nurtured by the Lord.  He doesn’t love me like He loves others.  If He did, I wouldn’t be living in these circumstances.”

These thoughts run through our subconscious mind and we may not really be aware of them.  On a deeper level our spirit hears and can begin to believe these lies.  We believe we are victims, or as I’ve said before, we have an “Eyore” mentality, “Woe is me…”

The explanation of God not doing chance really helped me and made sense to me.  I trust it will help you too.

When we are in turmoil and pain, remembering that the Lord has not made a mistake is very important and sometimes extremely difficult.  However, God doesn’t do chance.

Everything the enemy has used against us is what we will eventually use against him.  The difference is that we already have the victory.  Satan and all of his entourage will be taken out.  I’ve read the end of The Book – I just have trouble remembering what it is really saying sometimes.

The Lord is very intentional in what He has chosen to allow Satan to bring against us. The Lord knows what is our calling and destiny, and what it will take for us to fulfill them.  Every blow the enemy strikes against us is our God-given and designed opportunity for strengthening growth and blessing.

The Lord does not allow Satan’s choice of weapons to be open-ended.  He does, however, give our enemy a limited category of weapons from which to choose.  Don’t stop reading because you think I am a heretic.  The best is still coming.  Read on…

That category is intentional by the Lord and is made up only the weapons that when used against us will allow us to be strengthened (that which doesn’t kill us only makes us stronger).  Even though it looks like they are harming us, they cannot.  We are in God’s care and His plan for us is not to harm us.  Those weapons may seem as if they are being used against us, but in truth they are being used for us – for us to have hope, for us to have our future.  We have the ability and the opportunity to prosper in all situations.  The trials, turmoil, pain in our lives are designed to cause us to be “over-comers” You cannot be an over-comer if you have had nothing to overcome.

All that comes against us will not prevail.  The Lord already knows that we are able to be victorious over each attack.  He has already placed within us that ability: and as we strengthen and grow, our character becomes more and more like Christ’s character.  God knows we can win.  He designed us to win  he designed our every battle to be won by us.  We need to know that and keep it in mind.

The very weapon that the enemy has in his hand to us against us will be the very weapon we will take possession of and use against the enemy.  Even though Satan is intentionally trying to destroy us, God has intentioned us to be victorious and to be blessed.  We are not victims, after all.  WE are victors and to the victors go the spoils.

Every person has their own set of battles they must fight.  We all fight differently but what we do have in common is God’s assurance that He doesn’t do chance.  Whatever comes against use we have been uniquely designed to conquer!
